PETALS, PETALS, PETALS

A Peony is a Peony – Right?

Actually, there are several types of blooms.   There are single, semi-double, Japanese, full-double, and bomb peonies.  Each has its own look.  We love the double peonies. Because they are a full bloom of petals they last longer, are better for bouquets and are extremely fragrant.

If you look at some of these full-double peonies, you notice several layers of petals without a center.  That’s because the other parts of the flower develop into the petals.

Double peonies have multiple rows of petals emerging from the crown of the flower which is covered by petals.
